There are moments when the city and routine start to feel tight.
Between emails, traffic, and background noise, a simple, powerful need arises: to slow down. To breathe. To get away.

So you take the car, follow the curves of the Langhe, and arrive where the earth still smells like earth. Where wine isn’t just produced—it’s lived.

Saturday, July 19th was exactly that: a real break.

A long table set in the middle of nature, with people who, just moments before, were strangers—and by the end of the evening, were calling each other by name, exchanging glasses, maybe even sharing a knowing laugh.
Everyone with their own lives, but all united by one thing: a passion for wine and for a life that feels real, analog, and authentic.

A slow, rich rhythm

The welcome at the winery started gently. A cool aperitif and the hills opening up before your eyes like an invitation.

Some guests settled into the lounge chairs, savoring the silence after hours of driving. Others switched their phones to airplane mode—a liberating act for those who truly want to unplug. Children ran freely, playing.

Langhe in summer: secrets of the vineyard with the agronomist

Dr. Matteo Monchiero led the group through the vines, right in the middle of the growing season.
Lush foliage, well-formed clusters, and a silence broken only by cicadas and curious questions.

Look at this leaf. The way it turns toward the sun tells us everything about the health of the plant.

And that smell of earth after yesterday’s rain? That’s humus activating—it’s pure nourishment for the roots.

The grapes said a lot too: the size of the berries, the color just beginning to change, the feel beneath the fingers.

Veraison has begun,” Matteo explained, “the moment when the grapes start to change color and truly begin their transformation into wine.

It was a walk—but also a moment of deep listening: to nature, to words, to the small gestures that speak of daily care and farmer’s patience.

The test drive experience

This was the summer’s new highlight: discovering the Langhe at the wheel of cars provided by Gino S.p.A.
Winding roads through the vineyards, climbs that opened onto sudden panoramic views, downhill stretches through ancient stone villages, and curves that made you want to slow down and savor every glance. A real luxury.

One guest, parking her Mercedes AMG after driving between the most famous crus, said this was a completely new way to read the landscape—because it gives you time to really see how each hill reveals its own personality.

This is how you rediscover the pleasure of the journey, when the destination matters just as much as the path you take to get there.

A taste of Sicily in Piedmont

Back at the winery, Southern flavors embraced the Northern hills.

Chef Giulio Marino from Ristorante Mirò built a culinary bridge between two traditions, crafting a menu that told its story through all five senses.

Picture this:

  • Creamy primo sale with pistachio melting on the palate, balanced by Sicilian salami and the sweetness of fragrant acacia honey.
  • Eggplant caponata rich with fresh basil and ripe tomatoes, served on still-warm focaccine releasing aromatic steam.
  • Steaming arancini, their classic ragù bursting with the first bite.
  • Parmigiana like grandma’s—but in the hands of a true chef.
  • And the cannoli? Crisp, rich, with ricotta that makes you close your eyes just a second longer.

Each course was paired with wine.
Nebbiolo sparkling wine, the super-fresh Langhe Rosato, Barbera d’Alba Superiore, and a timeless classic: Barolo from the Comune di Monforte.

Summer in the Langhe: where things happen

The table was long. Shared.
Everyone was there to be present. To take part.
When a cloud threatened rain, someone stood up without hesitation to help cover the tables. No one held back. And at the end, we all cleared the table together—like at a friend’s home.

Our goal was never to create polished, picture-perfect experiences.
It’s to tell the story of real life—the kind that happens naturally.

Someone took off their shoes to feel the earth better.
Someone draped a cardigan over their shoulders because, in the vineyards, evening air turns cool.
Someone laughed as the wind made a napkin fly.

All real. All simple. All beautiful.

Returning to where you felt good

Living something authentic today almost feels revolutionary. Authentic doesn’t just mean “real.”

It’s contact. It’s time. It’s shared moments.

It’s knowing who made the wine in your glass.
It’s asking questions, hearing the answers, and looking someone in the eye.
It’s seeing that there’s a family behind it all.
It’s walking into a winery and feeling at home. Touching the barrels. Smelling the wine as it rests.

It’s helping to cover the tables if it rains.
It’s getting your feet a little dusty.
It’s feeling part of something bigger than just collecting a bottle.

It’s Sara walking between the tables, telling the story of each vineyard.
It’s her daughter growing up among the vines, learning that hospitality is a natural gesture.

And now?

Those who were there know.
Those who weren’t can imagine.

One thing’s certain:
Next time, you can be part of it too.
