There’s a moment in the year when everything pauses, and everything happens.

It’s September. It’s harvest time. The moment when months of care and patience become gestures as ancient as they are ever new.

This year, however, something has changed. Nature decided to move ahead, surprising us once again with its spontaneous intelligence. Just like life does, when it pushes us to be ready even when we thought we needed more time.

An early start for the harvest in Langa

Everything began sooner than expected. On August 22nd, while most were still thinking about summer, we were already among the rows in Murazzano, harvesting the first grapes for our sparkling bases.

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, perfectly ripe, balanced, and ready. Bunches that detached naturally, as if telling us they had reached their time.

A deep sense of satisfaction accompanied every step among the freshly harvested vines. It’s the serenity of those who know they made the right choices, who can see in each bunch the reward for months of devotion.

An early harvest across Europe

The harvest in Langa began at least ten days earlier than in previous years. Yet this is not unique to our hills—it is a phenomenon sweeping across Europe.

A natural advance shaped by climate trends that have written their story into the grapes.

The hot months of June and July accelerated the vine’s growth. Then came a cooler July, followed by August, which once again pushed forward, especially in its first two weeks.

The result? What we see now: Nebbiolo for rosé already in the cellar, Barbera beginning tomorrow, and forecasts pointing to Nebbiolo for Barolo arriving by the first ten days of October. Perhaps even earlier.

Harvest as meditation: silence, nature, gratitude

There are moments when everything suddenly makes sense.

When the noise of the city fades and only breath remains.

Walking through the vineyards with grapes in the basket is a way of reconnecting with nature, of rediscovering a deep peace too often forgotten. In these moments, you feel that rare sense of truly belonging to the landscape around you.

It’s the same light that turns on when you finally put the phone down and notice the sunset. Or when, after weeks of rushing, you sit in a park and hear the quiet sounds of life unfolding.

You feel part of it—like a plant, a blade of grass, a vine leaf. A genuine connection with happiness and serenity that everyday frenzy tends to erase.

Beyond technique: the harvest in Langa is also emotion

In an age when everything must be measured, quantified, controlled, there’s something revolutionary in rediscovering the pure joy of a gesture. Moving beyond the anxiety of perfection, beyond the race for numbers and parameters. Finding instead the beauty of being present in that moment, in closing the natural cycle that began months ago with pruning.

The vines speak, if you know how to listen

The vines speak—if you know them.
Those who live the harvest in Langa can read the color of the leaves, the shape of the bunches, even the smell of the earth.

Our vineyards are thriving, and you can sense it in the taste of the grapes and in the air of the morning. The plants are healthy, continuing their vegetative growth with energy.

But this is more than technical observation. It’s the trained eye of those who know each vineyard, each row, each single plant. Who can read in the color of the leaves the state of health, in the form of the bunches the story of the year, in the fragrance of damp soil the nourishment rising through the roots.

When nature decides: the true time of harvest in Langa

It’s a lesson that applies to life itself: how many times have we learned that the right moment is not the one we had planned?
That the perfect time for a change, for a conversation, for a decision we’ve been postponing, often arrives when we least expect it?
This year, nature has chosen to advance. To remind us that despite all our plans and forecasts, she is the one who decides.

And we are here to listen.
To respect her timing—even when it doesn’t align with ours.
Because in the end, this is our craft: not to dominate nature, but to dance with her.
Exactly like in life: not to control everything, but to learn to move with grace when plans change.

The harvest continues. In a few weeks, when the last Nebbiolo bunches are safely in the cellar, we will be able to tell the story of the full vintage.
But already now we know: 2025 will be a year to remember.
Not only for the quality of the grapes, but for the beauty of these ancient gestures that, year after year, remind us who we are.
